Omaha poker

- rules and tips

Omaha is a game of joint cards. It is very similar to Hold'em, but there are some clear differences in games and strategy.

all players get 4 private cards. all players get 5 joint cards (community cards). All players should use 2 private cards and 3 common cards to create the best poker hand.
How to play Omaha poker

before the game is started, the 2 players to the left of the dealer should place a "blind bet". so you don't necessarily have to bet money at the start of the game to join. however, the location at the table changes so that 2 players must make a forced bet. the first player to the left of the dealer should bet a "small blind bet" (half of the minimum bet at the table). Player # 2 to the left of the dealer will bet a "big blind bet" (the smallest bet at the table).

the dealer mixes 52 cards. each player gets assigned 4 cards that the other players can't see, disse kortene kalles for "hole" eller "pocket cards"

texas hold'em is super popular at the moment, but many online poker players fail to realize that omaha poker is a pretty nice game with as much appeal as the former. many omaha poker players were actually big texas hold'em players who needed a change of nature so to speak. the good thing about omaha though is that when you have the basics down, it becomes super easy to win on it. if texas hold'em is a poker game known for strategy, omaha is a game based on mathematical calculations. but don't let this sentence put you off. It is always the assumption that Omaha is a complicated game, but it really is not. In fact, we will go so far as to say that when you have the basics down, it is far easier than Texas Hold'em, as most of your decisions are automatic.

Basic Omaha poker rules
The game is similar to them to some extent that each player is handed short, there is a round of bets, a 3-card flop is handed, a turn card and then finally the river with game rounds in between. The big difference is that each player gets four holes cards as opposed to 2 in Texas Hold'em.

Playing Omaha Poker in a nutshell:
- In the beginning there is a game round
- followed by three-card flop, game round, turn, game round and finally the River
- You can use 2 of the four cards when you gather for one hand.

Strategy & Tips
The strategy for Omaha is about the same as in Hold'em.

but you must always remember that you can only use three of the common cards, and that you have to use two, and only two, of the cards on hand. Then two pairs on the table (the common cards) count as one pair, as you can't use all four cards. Remember this when trying to get a house.

Remember that since there are so many cards on the players, straight and flush will be quite common. Far more common than in Hold'em.
